Setting Up a New WordPress Website for Beginners

Class #1: Beginners Guide to Setting Up a New WordPress Site. In this live class, you’ll learn how to set up your new WordPress website step-by-step, along with everything you need to know about the settings, layout and functions of your new website.
One of the things that’s unique to Wealthy Affiliate is that they “pre-make” the WordPress websites. That means when you start a WordPress website on their platform, the site is already set up with all the right settings, plugins, etc. You’d have to learn and do that stuff yourself elsewhere.

Class #2: Building a Rad Homepage for Your WordPress website. WordPress automatically displays all your posts on the homepage. But you may want to add some additional elements to a dedicated homepage. In this live class, you’ll learn about how to set up your homepage like you want it.
Choosing a WordPress Theme
If you want your website to look a certain way, you have to pick a website theme that allows for what you want. Just to make it easy – if you like the way my website is set up, I’m using a free WordPress theme called, “Twenty-Fifteen.”
Many affiliate marketing trainers will tell you that simple is better. Your website should have a white background, and clear, crisp black text. I also like this theme because I like to have the menu and widgets (banner ads) in the left sidebar, along with other functions of this particular theme.
You’ll learn more from Wealthy Affiliate about choosing a theme, but this is the one I use. Here’s a course on choosing a WordPress theme from one of my favorite instructors.

Class #3: Building Navigation Menus on Your WordPress Site. This class will walk you through everything you need to know about creating a menu in WordPress and how to properly deploy the menu with a widget position.
