How Much Does it Cost to Make a Website?

I’ve been a full time Affiliate Marketer for several years now.  I own several websites, two of which provide my full-time income.  In this article, I’ll briefly go over your options for creating a website and the prices, then I’ll tell you exactly what I do for creating and hosting my websites, and how much it costs. I’ll also tell you how to get an absolutely free website, with free hosting, and free training to set it up and use it.

How Much Does it Cost to Make a Website?

The cost to create a website depends on which type of website you choose.  There are basically three options:

1.  Free Webbuilders.  You can go for the free website builders like Wix and Squarespace, which cost between $0 to $12-$13 per month.  These websites are suitable if you just want a personal website, of if you want to have a blog for the sole purpose of entertainment/hobby.  You generally cannot sell products on one of these websites, and you’re getting bare minimum as far as quality, hosting, support, security, functionality and speed.

2.  Build Your Own WordPress site.  WordPress is free.  But you pay for things like plugins, hosting and security, and professional help will cost $80-$180 per hour.  WordPress is suitable for blogs, business sites, e-commerce sites and very large websites.   But if you’re going to build a quality, high functioning, scaleable WordPress website yourself, you need to have a certain amount of expertise.  Scratch that…you need a SIGNIFICANT amount of expertise.

Hosting for your WordPress is the most important factor.  Hosting for your WordPress website will generally cost anywhere from $2.95 – $150 per month, depending on which of the three types of hosting you choose:

1.  Shared WordPress Hosting – Between $2.95 – $7.99 per month
2.  WooCommerce Hosting – Betweeen $6.95 – $13.99 per month
3.  Managed WordPress Hosting – Between $19.95 – $150 per month

3.  A Custom-made website.  A high quality, high functioning, scalable, custom-made website will probably cost around $5,000, with fairly expensive monthly maintenance and hosting fees.
